Off The Map Charters February 2020

The recent bushfires have devastated many areas of NSW. Fortunately the bushland around Pittwater remains unaffected. The smoke has impacted the area however, with a few charters affected over December and January, The weather has been hot with some days reaching 40C, but the sea breeze made it more pleasant to be out at sea.

R U 4 Reel spent some time out of the water undertaking her Periodic survey. Of course she passed with flying colours and was back in the water, raring to go in no time. We did take the opportunity to undertake some regular maintenance, ensuring she is in tip top condition and ready for our customers.

Fishing the estuary and close reefs over January has been excellent. Lots of bait about in the bays and the Kingfish are in Pittwater in big numbers with most fish being around 63cm but the occasional 85cm-95cmfish being boated near Scotland Island and off Avalon Sailing Club. Good numbers of Bream, Flathead and Flounder have been going home with anglers for dinner plus there are lots of Calamari about right now.

Off shore there have been a few Marlin caught in close on around the 100 fathoms line with Mahi-Mahi also in good sizes and numbers at the FADs.
